When I first met with Katie and Matt to discuss their Kindred Oaks Wedding Video and they told me it was going to be at Kindred Oaks I thought I knew exactly what it would look like. I’ve been doing wedding videography in the hill country for years, a few times at Kindred Oaks even, so I was picturing a bright blue sky, dark brown and gray trees with bright green leaves, and flowers blossoming everywhere. Of course, it was in December, so I thought maybe some of the grass would be a little less green, but around here early Winter doesn’t look too different from Summer. Well, on the morning of their wedding, every image I had in my head was challenged by the weather. It rained just about all day long. At my pre-production meeting with my crew, we decided not to hide the rain, but embrace it. We made it our priority to capture the beauty of nature through rain. We focused on puddles gathering, rain drops falling on flower pedals, and the calming hum of the sound of rain in the distance. What we came up with in Matt and Katie’s video captures so much beautiful imagery, none of which were in my head during that first meeting! Take a look for yourself…
We weren’t the only ones that had to adapt our plan. Kindred Oaks was ready with a great backup plan, moving the ceremony under cover and gathered around the beautiful new fireplace they’d just added this year. Everything went off without a hitch! From pre-ceremony, to ceremony, reception, and send off, Kindred Oaks had every operation running smoothly and stress free!
Matt and Katie were two of the most humble, stress free, and thoughtful people I’ve ever worked with. From weeks before the wedding all the way through to the send-off they communicated openly and often. Getting to know them really helped me know how to best capture their big day. I wish the couple the absolute best of luck in everything they do together, I know they’re going to have a great life!
These pictures below are just screen shots from the video. They look pretty good, but they look better in video. If you want to see some AMAZING still images of this wedding check out ForeverPhotograghy.com . Jerry and Jona Blackwell of Forever Photography are my absolute most favorite photographers I’ve ever worked with. (and I’ve worked with literally hundreds of photographers.) I cannot recommend them highly enough!
